Complacency sucks the energy, the potential, the life out of the most interesting people.
There is an irrational fear of pain and difficulty in the world today. The focus is on how to make our lives easier. Fast food, easy pass, instant gratification.
There is a desire to soften, to temper, to diminish. When we get close to feeling uncomfortable, we stop. When we get close to feeling pain, we medicate. It’s a world of blurred edges.
But does it work?
I often fall into this abyss as well. But then something…or someone reminds me. That I have to keep moving in order to get to where I want to go…in order to contribute to something bigger…in order to FEEL. I have to take action when it’s difficult. Then and only then can excellence exist.
So remove complacency and embrace the unease, discomfort, and painful moments that create who you are…that uncover your inner beauty and strength. MOVE forward into excellence.
Action Step: Take a look at something in your life that is making you uncomfortable or uneasy. Look at it honestly. If you move through the unease what might be on the other side? Could you learn something? Deepen a relationship? Make more money? Create more joy? MOVE through it. The benefit on the other side is where you will find the magic.
