Park This!

I love to point out interesting examples of great service. Recently I went on a business trip and I used a new long term parking option for my new car. 

I have to say that with the old car I may possibly have been known to search for the place in the least desirable location to encourage any potential robbers to relieve me of the pain known as the ‘blue bomber’.

But the new car was special to my heart (and need for speed) so I was more particular.  I asked around, did a review search and found the one.  I arrived.  They were polite, careful, and they wisked me off to the airport with barely the time to blow a kiss to my baby….

But the return was when the real difference occurred. 

Picked up promptly, car was ready and vacuumed.  And they had cold water bottles at the gate as I exited. 

These minor customer focused differences made me completely downplay the odd interaction on the phone. 

You see- when I called to let them know I was ready for the pickup- the woman said my car wasn’t ready.  She said I was back in town too early.  I said no, I was supposed to be there.  And she said “It says you aren’t due back until the 17th!”  I replied with “Ummm…It IS the 17th”  And she said, “Oh.”

We laughed.

You see…that little misunderstanding could have been very detrimental to my view of the overall service of that company.  BUT…

Everything else they did was exceptional.  So I was able to laugh it off instead of get upset.

Do the BEST possible job…at all times.

When you go over and above for your clients they see you in a different light.  They see you as someone that cares…as a friend.

Always look for ways to differentiate.  And in the end the ability to be human combined with the obvious desire to serve, sets you apart.

 On a side note, their follow up was systematized for excellence as well. I have received a thank you email, survey, and a coupon to come back. I recommend looking at how you too can implement new, customer focused strategies to take your business to the next level!
