Light the Way…

The fog is thick and heavy on my chest, and in my mind, as I walk slowly up the hill to the track, adjusting the ipod as I go.  I can barely see two feet in front of me.

With a sigh, I begin.  My legs are heavy as my feet seem to pound against the ground in anger.  My lungs aren’t cooperating…they do that when I start too fast.  I slow down and find a rhythm as the music soothes me.

Zero thought occurs in laps 1-3.  But then as I begin lap 4 something happens.

I realize I can see better.  The fog is beginning  to dissipate and it seems to be very clearly because of me.  I have this image that my body heat is slicing through the fog like a silver knife through chocolate cake…or a beacon to light the way for a ship.

“Yes,” I think as my body responds to the image.

I believe that the fire within us can light the way when we most need it.  Sometimes without even specifically focusing on it, the inner flame guides us in our choices.  But when we do focus on the power we each have…our resilience, our voice, our gifts…amazing things occur.  Opportunity, connection, success, love, joy, abundance.

Action Step:  Allow.  Listen to your inner voice, allow your fire to guide you.  And take the actions necessary to fan the flame so that it burns brightly enough to lead not only you, but those around you, to greatness.  And whatever you do…do not tolerate anyone dousing your flame.
