Rose-Colored Glasses or Chooses to Look in the Right Direction??

My sons, health, freedom, love, family, friends, opportunity, smiles, summer days, trees, waterfalls, a reasonable ex, beaches, belly laughs, big squishy hugs, a decent metabolism, chocolate, adventure, lamb chops, faith, anticipation, music that stirs the soul, happy tears, poetry, grateful clients, and oh so very much more.

As I was compiling my list of things for which I am grateful one of my twins walked in the room and said “Momma, you look pretty.  Want me to draw you a picture?”  Obviously I must add sweet, chivalrous young men to my list.

I asked him what he was grateful for (expecting video games and ice cream to top the list) and here’s what he said:

My parents, my home, my brothers, being alive, food, water, friends, being healthy, and vacations.

Maybe the age gap is merely a perceived barrier. Maybe at our core…when we take the time to assess what’s really important…we are all one.

I am proud of my boys who spent so much time this weekend helping to feed those less fortunate (see pix).  I am humbled by the friends who offer support and love when needed.  I am in awe of unconditional love and beauty that takes your breath away.

For those of you who think the world is crumbling into negativity, fear, and despair…
No, I don’t believe it for a second.  We just need to focus on the right, the good, the kind, the love right before our eyes and it will expand.

Action Step:  Don your rose-colored glasses this week and focus on what people are doing right…not where they come up short.  Send me a note and let me know if that doesn’t in some capacity alter your reality.

  1. I chose to take action in what I believe. Family, Community and Service are among those things. I am also grateful to have friends like you in my life.
