Fear, Laughter, and Salsa!

It’s Saturday night.  I don’t have the boys.  And I hear of a fun evening of comedy and salsa dance happening just down the street.

I want to go!

BUT…it’s a singles night and I can’t find any girlfriends to accompany me.

I jump out of airplanes.  I rock climb, hang glide, swim with sharks and walk on fire.  But going to an event like this solo scared the hell out of me.

Of course, that’s a huge motivator for me.  I believe that fear is an opportunity for amazing life transformation if you face it head on.  Add in the lessons this could teach me to help my relationship transition clients…I was obligated to go.

Picture it.  Crazy lady who finished her first bucket list before turning 40 standing in the entranceway of the restaurant…hyperventilating.  Too funny!!

End result- a highly enjoyable evening with a great message.

  • Life Lesson 1- Fear is in your mind.  What scares you is rarely as bad as you imagine it to be.
  • Life Lesson 2- Connection with others is a vital part of most people’s energy and joy.  Let go of the attachment to ‘meeting mr. right’ and enjoy each conversation with no expectation.  Everyone comes into your life for a reason.  They may be there to teach you something…or you may be there to teach them.
  • Personal Lesson- I realized, when I gave up dance invites to sit at the bar and quiz the comedian on how to add more humor to my speeches… that I’m perfectly fine with where I am in my life right now.

Whatever fear may be keeping you from connecting on a deeper level in love, in business, with family, or any other relationship…is NOT serving you.  Jump my beautiful friends.  Jump into your life with both feet and a smile from ear to ear!

“If the essence of my being has caused a smile to have appeared upon your face or a touch of joy within your heart, then in living- I have made my mark.”  Thomas L. Odem

Action Step:  Look closely at your relationships.  If it’s YOU that’s holding back then make today the day you change that.  Do something a little different, a little crazy, or simply start a conversation with someone new.  Practice stepping outside your comfort zone on a regular basis.  Before long you will be such a pro nothing will stop you from achieving all you desire!
