Give It Away

Give it away.  As with anything beautiful we often want to hold and capture it and in a selfish capture the gentle beauty stifles and dies.  But as soon as we give it away it grows.

Love given freely is endless.  If you make love conditional- let’s say you only love someone if they act a certain way or say certain words or… take out the garbage, then it’s not true love.  If you love someone for who they are and not what they do then the love grows for both parties.  Don’t let fear keep you from expressing your feelings.  Even if the love isn’t reciprocated in the way you like you are still full from the mere act of having loved.

Give it away.  Have you ever noticed that when you try to hold too tight to your things or your money you feel a sense of lack?  Have you ever given and felt indescribably whole?  The world is filled with abundance.  When we live our lives that way each act of giving results in receiving tenfold.

It’s a season for giving…and yet.  People can get lost in the act of doing.  The busy ‘musts’ and ‘shoulds’ that fill our days.  But when we take the time to give then we can breath, we can feel the true beauty of the season.  Give of your time.  Give of your love.  Give of yourself.  Stop and give your attention to a child.  They need it more than an IPad this year.

Give it away.  It will be the best gift you give yourself this year.

Action Step:  This week tell one person you love them.  Give your undivided attention to someone seeking it.  And cross one thing off your list without accomplishing it…just because it’s a ‘should’ instead of a ‘want’.
